How Pet Sitters Can Market Themselves

How Pet Sitters Can Market Themselves

Wait! Don’t leave! You’re on the right page…we’re just talking about how pet sitters can market themselves. Yes, it’s something a little different than our normal topics but it’s good, trust me.

For those of you that wonder how a pet sitter gets started in this business and how they promote their business, I’m here to share just some of the ways WE do it.

WHAT ARE SOME METHODS OF MARKETING

Marketing consists of all the normal stuff like business cards, web site, blogs and brochures. But it also, consists of other things like How Pet Sitters Can Market Themselvespublicity and community involvement.

From the inception of my business I’ve focused on getting out in the community and meeting people. Actually shaking someone’s hand and asking them to visit my web site has gone a lot further than them actually just READING a post on facebook. Not that the post on facebook is bad, it’s just not very personal, know what I mean?

WAYS IN WHICH WE MARKET OUR PET SITTING BUSINESS

Here’s some examples of community events we’ve participated in since 2008:

  • Delaware County Fair
  • Living Lightly Fair
  • Daleville Autumn Fest
  • Ernie’s Heart Pet Food Pantry Distribution
  • Action for Animals Pet Food Pantry Food Distribution
  • Muncie Ballet Studio Performances
  • The Grove move-in day (as shown in the video above)
  • Humane Education at Woods Edge Apartments, Parker Methodist Church, Ross Community Center
  • Muncie Homeowner’s Show
  • Muncie Bridal Show
  • Muncie Animal Shelter Dog Walking
  • Alexandria Fall Fest
  • Several Craft Shows in Muncie and Anderson
  • Senior Citizen Center Presentation

Now that might seem like a lot but honestly that’s not all we’ve done. It’s just ALL that I remember right now…lol.

You see, this day and age with all the technology at our disposal we’ve got the world at our fingertips. We can use as much of it as we think will benefit our businesses but the good ol’ fashioned face-to-face meeting is something that sets us apart from our competition. We use it to our advantage and make the most out of each and every event we attend.

Marketing is trial and error and despite all the things we’ve done in the past and plan to do in the future, it’s not full proof. My recommendation to fellow pet sitters and anyone that markets themselves or their business is to just keep plugging along and be open-minded. Be creative and think outside the box.
