It’s back! The Easter bunny is making a return appearance and this time he’ll be hopping over to Heekin Dog Park for our 3rd annual Dog-Diggity Easter Egg Hunt and Pet Adoption Event with the Muncie Animal Shelter. Pre-register here!
This Muncie Easter event is for everyone! If you’re looking for something to do with your family and you’re a dog-lover you should plan to come. Enjoy the afternoon with other like-minded people and get your puppy-fix! You don’t have to live in Muncie to partake in the fun. Last year we had people from Richmond, Indiana and Indianapolis, so wherever you call home, you’re welcome here!
2015 Dog-Diggity Easter Egg Hunt
This Easter egg-stravaganza will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 11:45am to 1:45pm at Heekin Park at the corner of S. Hackley Street and Memorial Drive (next to the fire station).
Check in time begins at 11:15am. We suggest you pre-register early because the first 20 pre-registered families will receive a FREE commemorative dog bandana for their 4-legged friend. You may purchase additional dog bandanas when you check in or at any time throughout the event.
Cost is $4.00 per person over 13 years old and we’re asking each family to bring one bag of dog or cat food to donate to the Muncie Animal Shelter. If you’d like to donate more or have toys, treats, leashes or cleaning supplies that you’d like to donate, awesome!
All paid and registered participants will get a hand-stamp. This hand-stamp entitles you to participate and win any of the prizes you might win throughout our Muncie dog Easter hunt. For the safety of everyone at our event, we ask that children and dogs stay with an adult throughout the event. Dogs must remain on leash while outside of the dog park area.
Reminder: Don’t forget your Easter basket or sacks to put your eggs in at our Muncie Easter event!
Best Dressed Easter Parade
To make this Muncie Easter event more fun, we’re kicking it off with a Best Dressed Easter Parade. Start searching for a cute doggy costume or to make things more interesting and creative by dressing up WITH your pooch! We’re looking for the most creative Easter duo or theme and the winner will walk home with one of two spectacular prizes. Ready to sign up?
Dog Hunt Areas
New for 2015 is the separate egg hunt areas for dogs under 25 lbs and one for 0ver 26 lbs. The little Chihuahuas and Doxie’s won’t get trampled by the Great Danes and German Shepherds. Each area will be filled with Easter eggs. Be sure to help your dog find as many eggs as possible because some will have prizes, not just doggy treats!
What’s an Easter egg hunt without children running around searching for eggs?
Children Easter Egg Hunt Areas
In our age-designated areas, toddlers can stumble along and find eggs (with help of their mom or dad of course) and older children can have fun looking for harder to find eggs. Don’t worry, if you have multiple age children, you can all stay in one area if your kiddos need help looking for eggs.
Muncie Animal Shelter Pet Adoption
Not bringing children or dogs? No worries! We still want you to come out and have fun at our Muncie Easter event. If you’re not bringing a dog, maybe you’d like to walk one of the Muncie Animal Shelter puppies or dogs. Shelter workers and volunteers will have several of their 4-legged friends looking for a forever home. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a dog you want to make part of your family.

Lorri Markum photography will be taking Easter photos throughout the event. Each family can have their picture taken with the Easter bunny or with our Easter-themed display and sign up to have one picture emailed to them for FREE.
Several local pet-related businesses will have tables set up so be sure to stop by and talk ‘dogs’ with them.
Prizes
We’ll have door prizes and donations from Muncie businesses to give away throughout our Muncie Easter dog hunt. If you’d like to donate to this event please email Kelley Stewart or call her at 765-744-5688. Check each Easter egg that you pick up, a winner slip will be inside if you won.
Towards the end of the event, stop by our PRIZE TABLE and pick up your goodies and drop your Easter eggs off at the designated spot, just look for the signs.
