Our pet care providers here at Sit-Stay-Play often have their schedules lined up weeks in advance. We take care of pets in Muncie, Anderson and Indianapolis areas and some of our providers have part-time jobs, children and busy lives outside of their pet care responsibilities.
Many of our clients schedule their dog walking or pet sitting services the same days each week, which relieves them from having to worry about last-minute bookings or scrambling at the last-minute.
As clients request services our office finds the person that is best suited for the job and asks if they’re available to work. When they can work, it works out great. When they can’t, we move down the list and ask other pet care providers who has either worked with the pets before or ones we feel would work best in that situation.
However, when clients spring their pet sitting or dog walking needs on us at the last-minute, usually we can accommodate. But…there are times when we are booked up and squeezing clients in is almost impossible. That’s why we began implementing an extra fee for same day pet care bookings.
Extra Fee For Same Day Pet Care Bookings
This additional $5 will go straight to the pet care provider that accepts the job as an added bonus for them rearranging their schedule to accommodate your needs.
Now we understand things can pop up on us at unexpectedly and we don’t have control of that. In those kinds of circumstances we have the flexibility in not charging the extra fee for same day bookings especially if it’s not during peak pet care season or if our schedules are pretty light.
However, if you planned a trip out in advance and just waited till the last-minute to call to say, “Hey Kelley, guess what, we’re on the highway already and we forgot to call you to see if you can watch our pets. Can you watch them tonight thru Thursday?” Now mind you, Thursday is 6 days away and it’s right smack dab in the middle of our New Year’s Eve rush. That’s 7 days worth of pet sitting, 3 times per day, all without getting any payment up front or forms filled out which would book your service. That’s not something we look forward to.
Our policy is for clients to schedule services, complete a service request form and pay for the services up front. If you’re a new client these policies plus the initial consultation must be completed prior to us setting foot in your home. Again, there are circumstances that prohibit that from happening. A prime example of this happened recently when one of our poop scooping clients was hospitalized. She called me from the hospital and asked if I could take care of her dogs. I did willingly because she’s a great client. However, I didn’t have all the forms I needed but I figured it out and the client and I were in communication via text. I didn’t charge her an extra fee for same day bookings because it was an emergency.
