Pet and animals in our community have no voice and depend on good Samaritans (and great families) to look out for them. Often, pet owners need just a little help paying for vaccinations, surgeries or other pet care items.
Here at sit-stay-play, we organize fundraising and community projects that are simple and effective and that helps with these issues. We help with the pet overpopulation problem by collecting aluminum cans and using the collected monies to be used for spaying and neutering.
How Your Can Help Pets In Our Community
Pets Need Your Help
We also help with covering the cost of vaccinations and other veterinary costs as funds are available.
And we encourage people to donate their unused pet items like leashes, collars, toys and crates. All of these items can be used by local shelters or people in need and we want to help get these items to the people (and pets) that need them.
Snip Snip Clip Clip Program
This live saving aluminum can collection program covers the cost of the free spay/neuters we offer.
We set up weekly, bi-weekly or monthly collections from supporters.
After the cans are collected, we use the monies collected and run a facebook contest.
Participants must submit a picture of the pet, like our facebook page and tell us why their pet should receive the help.
After the public chooses the winner, we arrange the service and do a short interview with the participant and take pictures of their pet.
This program is very important to help us continue to help prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. Please collect your cans for us!
2012 Recap:
Two pet parents received much needed surgeries and medicine for their pets, thanks to the donations of aluminum cans and metal from some of our clients, friends and family; and we delivered several bags of emergency dog and cat food to families in Muncie and Royerton.
2013 Recap:
We collected almost 300 lbs of pet food at our 1st Annual Dog-Diggity Easter Egg Hunt. The food was split between Action For Animals and Ernie’s Heart Pet Food Pantry in Anderson. Some of our pet sitting clients donated cans and other pet items which we donated to the Muncie Animal Shelter and Action for Animals. Unfortunately we didn’t raise enough money through our can collection program but were still able to donate items to organizations that reached out to us.
2014 Recap:
We paid for one cat spay surgery and paid for vaccinations for another cat. At our 2nd annual Dog-Diggity Easter Egg Hunt at McCulloch Park we collected two hundred pounds of pet food that we donated to Action For Animals.

Volunteer Opportunities
Want to get hands on?
Muncie Animal Shelter, Muncie ARF, Action for Animals and Ernie’s Heart Pet Food Pantry in Anderson all would love more volunteers.
All of these locations accept pet food and supplies and some are geared to helping people who have lost their jobs, their homes or who have fallen on hard times.
Thanks for reading and be sure to save your cans and pet food items to help those less fortunate in our community.
